Hi F18 sailors

Two weeks to go.

I urge you to sign on for the F18 East coast championship on the labor day week end at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club (go to Fleet250.org).
We expect at least 20 boats and will run a beautiful event on a three days format. This is a great opportunity to provide support to the F18 class, which deserve a real race circuit to develop.
This event is sanctioned by the NAF18 and belongs to the Atlantic Coast F18 Challenge which includes the Spring Fever.

Any info you can email me: PierretJ@coned.com.

Ok,

Here is what happens:

To my understanding,a lot of people are "on the fence" waiting for the list to build before making any decision. Following this reasoning, the list will never build.

Several points:

1. Pre registering does not mean that you make a commitment to race. It just mean that you express strong interest for the event and are ready to come. (I guess that Nigel Pitt, Alex Shafer and Matt Struble are thinking like this, they will never show up for a 10 boat race). So, nothing wrong to sign up and ultimately change your mind if you feel you do not want to participate.

2. This is the price to pay if you want to create a new event. I can now tell you that if we get a good turnout (20 boats looks to me a minimum) we will extend this to F17 (or I17 whatever ...) next year as we have a good fleet building at our club.

3. On an organization standpoint, there is nothing worst than to be in the fog like this: Very difficult for everything from t Shirts to food and budget.

So, some people put tons of energy to promote our sport and the F18, if you are on the fence, grab you mouse and sign up: that will help a lot.

Thanks
