New to the Forum – Quick Tips

1) You can read any Forum without registering. If you want to Post, you must register. To register Click on Log In and then at the Log In Page, click on the link Register Here. Select a User Name and your own Password (write these down and remember them). And there is a little box you MUST check that says you will abide by the Forum Rules. If not checked, you will not get registered.
Now you can Post. By the way, you must allow Cookies.
2) It is best to read Forums in Collapsed Mode. That way you will see a list of Threads. To read a Thread, double click on it and all the post and replies will be shown in order of posts. To go back, click on Index and you will again see the list of threads.
By doing this the program keeps track of what you have already read, and when you click on the same thread again, it will pass over the ones already read and to the new posts. [color:"red"] (New) However, after we upgraded the software there seemed to be a glick and it did not show you the unread messages in red. To overcome that, check the box that says "Remember Me!" when you log in and it will all work again.[/color]
3) Be certain to look over the FAQ page, as there are so many neat things you can do
4) Click on Main Index to see the list of all the different Forums
5) To change how you want to view the Forums and other personal info, click on My Home.
The number of threads shown is set at the default of 10 per page. I set mine to 20, but you can set it to whatever you want.
There you can also change your Password, have you picture in your posts, and all sort of things
6) Click on Who's Online and you will see a list of folks that are presently using the Forum and what they are reading.
7) Search is a very powerful tool. Click on it and set the criteria for your search. Unlike the Old Forum where we had to delete messages over 2 months old to keep the program up to speed, this Program keeps all posts in its Database, so you can search by key word for any subject.
8) You can post pictures and use funny icons (Like This ) to express feelings. Lots of tools

ENJOY!

Rick

I would like to show a picture/drawing embedded in a message (in addition to as an attachment). The picture/drawing is on my pc as a .gif-file, I do not have website with an url for it.
I have seen some messages display an attachment picture embedded in the text.
How does one do that?
Thank you!
Stein

Stein,

just upload the file as an attachment to the message. Then go back and edit your message. You can then cut and paste the URL to the image uploaded to catsailor.com in your message.

There seems to be a problem with the search engine. When I click on the thread I want to search, I am redirected to the current main index

Hi Everyone,

I stumbled onto this site while searching for G Cat info. I was given a 5 m G Cat 10 years ago and have never seen another. Its an amazing boat and at 25 +/- years is still going strong, but showing its age (like me). Through it I have introduced sailing to many kids through school/church youth groups and most seemed to enjoy the experience and come back for more. I'm on the Left Coast near Morro Bay and would like to meet other cat sailers and espeially hear from other G Cat owners whever they may be. I'm also looking to replace mine with another someday but want one with dual tramps also. Any suggestions?

Your question may not get noticed way up here on the sticky threads that tell you how to use Forum.
Post the same thing as an original thread and you will have better luck.

When does the "New Forum" become not new anymore? smile
I think it's probably time to change it on the front page? I hate when I click Old Forum by accident!

Would like to post a general question to the group, but didn't see a link or tab to click to originate a post?
Anyway, the question was- What is the most awesome sailing vacation spot you have been -- #1 With your own catamaran OR
with the catamaran belonging to the hotel? Any dates and or hotel information would be much appreciated. The basic idea is to take the wife on a REAL sailing adventure rather than a cruise.

Thanks for your help!

In every one of the Forums at the very top are two tabs: New Topic and Options. Just click on New Topic and proceed.

Hi all,

After reading the mossie rules I have a question regarding the rigging.
It states that a minimum of 3mm wire shall be used and that it shall be circular in section.
Can anyone see any issues with using 3mm di-form wire?
As I read it there should be no problem but I just want to check that there has not been any issues in relation to the rules with it before I use it.

Thanks
Liza

Liza,
You posted in the wrong place. This thread is instructive on how to use the forum.

earch is a very powerful tool. Click on it and set the criteria for your search. Unlike the Old Forum where we had to delete messages over 2 months old to keep the program up to speed, this Program keeps all posts in its Database, so you can search by key word for any subject.
