Power just came back on and...Wow, what a night!

I went out to survey the damage around 200am to find trees down and fences somewhere else! House did not lose a shingle and all vehicles had windows. I brought my horse trailer close to my big front bay window to block the east winds of Ivan. Winds estimated to 95mph.
We've already had a chainsaw gang go around and clear trees in the neighborhood. What a difference 24 hours makes! I don't know the whereabouts of the Key Sailing group. I've heard reports that Okaloosa Island now has several new "inlets" and that Hwy 98 is washed out. Just wanted to let y'all know the Currys' are safe.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers,

Bob Curry

God has blessed you, I went through Andrew at ground zero, it is a mess for a long time. Keep your spirits and head up.

Glad to hear you are okay Bob. Please let us know if you hear from the Key Sailing guys. It looks like they got hit really hard.

Regarding Key Sailing, I found this clue on the Penscola News Journal site this morning:
"The Quietwater Beach Boardwalk appeared to have sustained only minimal damage, although its pier lost all decking."

I am curious to know if Hwy. 98 is passable from Ft. Walton to Gulf Breeze.

I don't know if this image link will work (follow the bottom link if it doesn't) but this is reportedly the bridge from Gulf Breeze to Pensacola Beach (399). This would have been the first of three bridges we pass under after re-entering the waterway during RTI. Hwy 110 is the bridge just before this one that has the photos with semi truck in the middle of what's left. I have not seen anything from the Navarre bridge or the Hwy 30 bridge (Ft-Walton/Miracle Strip Pkw.) or the East Pass Destin bridge.
