Does anyone have a schedule of distance races for 2005? I'm trying to compile a complete list of events in the U.S., including dates and contact information.

We will have a pretty complete list on this site under Events. It is usually the most all-encompassing list around. But, at this time there are a good many folks that have not yet set dates.
Usually by around November the dates are pretty well fixed.

I can say this, however, the Triple Crown of Distance Races is already scheduled. They are:

Apr 23 -- Miami-Key Largo Race, 45-mile dash down the Intracoastal Waterway (hundreds of boats)
Apr 30-May 1 -- Hogsbreath Keys 100, from Key Largo, FL to Key West, FL, 100 mile race in two legs in open water.
May 7 -- Mug Race, From Palatka to Jax, FL down the St. Johns River, by the Jacksonville Rudder Club

I will be getting more info and contact info upon my return to Key Largo, on the 29th of Sept.

Does anyone else have their 2005 event date set? This is for a story package to be published in Sailing World and my deadline is looming.

Here are a couple more:
Aug 6 -- Sandusky Steeplechase, from Sandusky to Put-in-Bay, Ohio, 22-mile distance race as feeder for the I-LYA Bay Week Regatta
Dec 10-11 -- 21st Annual Key Largo Steeplechase, Key Largo, FL, 110 mile race around the island with a Sat. nite stop.

Brian Karr would also be a good one to contact on FL distance races.

Its 80nm, around "the county" which is an island in lake ontario, on the Canada side. The wind here is second to none. 1 hour drive west of the site of the 76 olympic sailing events at CORK. Last year was a first time trial run and it met with fantastic success.

Whoops! Forgot the big one -- the Atlantic 1000 which may or may not be divided into the Tybee 500 and the Outer Banks 500.
Not sure about the date, but probably early May.
