So... Who's up for it? Surely some of the Europeans or Canadians are up for a challange.

Dave and I will jumpstart it, if there is anyone else interested in doing the Tybee 500, Outer Banks 500, or Atlantic 1000.

I know we're gluttons for punishment, but if it's an upwind race, the I20's are toast!

If it's downwind, we'd better pull out the snorkles...

Drop me note if you've got questions, or need a help with logistics.

Are bow-planes illegal under F18 rules?...I think not. [insert evil laugh]

OK, I'll bite Jake. What are you insinuating?

Feeling rather obtuse today.

Hi Mike...
Do you know for a fact that they are running both races this year?

The web site does not give dates for 05.

Ahhh nothing...it's a frustrating day at work. The bow plane is that angled plate attached to the bow available for a H16 to try and prevent the pitch pole. I am thrilled with my F18 around the cans but reaching with a spinnaker in a stiff breeze is not it's strong point.

I spoke with Chuck via email this week and he has not confirmed the dates because of starting logistics(where), but he is shooting for May 8-13th 2005.

I think you and David will make a great team and you don't even need to buy spare parts since you both have new Nacra F18's. Which boat are you going to race and which will be for spare parts. David's is a little newer but yours has been tested in big air.

I finally got my blood salt level down to normal, so....
I think we can take Krantz and Lennard, what do you think?

That sounds like challenge to me. I guess we will see you at the midlands regatta in a couple of weeks.
I hope Jake forgot all he has learned at the last few regattas.

I say we wait another year and come back to do the whole 1000. (did I say that?)

Jake tells me we have a good fleet of 18's coming to the midlands, sounds great, oh and it is a challenge!
See you next weekend.

I was talking about doing the whole 1000 miles. You need to do it now while your boat is new and fresh and still under warranty.
You have not realy done the race until you have sailed in lightning, hail, 50 mph winds, micro burst, pitch black, big seas, and gone around Cape Hatteras.

Come on you know you want too !

Then drop the spinnaker while reaching ! [Re: Jake] #39491

Spi was never intended to be used on a reach in the wild stuff. And of course no boat is as slow as the one that is upside down !

weezy,
Your racing ingnorance never ceases to amaze me.
No wonder you prefer your little "coastal camping trips" to actual racing.

Even an A Class, which ONLY has a small main, can flip over if the skipper is TRYING hard.
A true RACER is willing to take chances to WIN!!
If the wind gives you a reach, a RACER will push the boat with all the sails they can use.
The good ones learn where their limits are, and sail up to them.

No wonder you spend so much time on the shore critisizing racers, you are jealous.
You will never learn how to race in heavy air if you don't try.

The dates are not firm yet, but I've spoken with both organizers, and the Tybee 500 and the OBX 500 are being put together as we speak.

You are such a heinous guy. You must have a severe problem. You should go see a doctor or a psy.
