103 copies available in US libraries... use the link below and enter your zip code to see if a copy is near you.

http://www.worldcatlibraries.org/wcpa/ow/067d2b4f2d7c5eeba19afeb4da09e526.html

BTW, you can search for catamaran library holdings using
http://www.google.com/search?source...site%3Aworldcatlibraries%2Eorg+catamaran
This is limited to widely held items now but will soon include nearly all library holdings. Works in Yahoo also.

In the movie "The Firm", there is shameless product placement of some H16s on the beach scene. I think this is the scene where some foxy lady attempts to seduce Tom Cruise's character.

Spongebob and Patrick Saved by a Hobie Getaway!

That is how this thing played out. Saw the Movie with my son this weekend. Near the end of the movie, Spongebob and Patrick were riding on the back of David Hasselhoff on the way back to Bikini Bottom... They were jumped by a hit man "Dennis" who was just about to stomp them when the Getaway sailed over and smacked the hitman! The boat was also in an earlier scene in the background. All in all about 5-10 seconds of screen time. Never saw the other boats. Looked like they painted one in in one scene... sailing. Was really hard to even recognize it as a sailboat though.

In the new movie "After the Sunset" with Pierce Brosnan and Selma Hayek there is a Hobie and a Prindle catamaran (a whole 3-5 seconds) as they introduce you to Atlantis Paradise Island. After I saw the catamarans, I stayed around to watch Selma..

Jaws 2 had a Tornado and I think a prindle or some type. My Dad worked on the SailCraft of Canada Tornado for the film...and likes to always tell us how they ended up wrecking the first boat before they finished shooting and had to order a second one!

Pierce Bronson actually sails cats in some way. I was flipping channels late one night and saw a clip on some celeb sighting show of him sailing a NACRA 5.8 in real getup not a movie stunt.

50 First Dates had a scene on the beach where in background you could see some H16s.

Also, is it not one in the background?

I am distressed (to a very minor, itsty bitsy, small, littel degree) that we are depicted at person strikers. ("being" strikers ;be it sponges or whatever)

The youngerlings in my family have told me that SpongeBob SquarePants, the movie, is terrible. In their words:
Quote

We saw the Spongebob Squarepants movie this weekend. It was truely
awful. Do not waste your time.

However, it would have been very cool if Gary was the Cat Sailor!

These are fans who bought premier tickets, a week in advance to see this cartoon.

On a related note; the 3D-IMAX version of "The Polar Express" is truly worthy of my mention. I just got a call from my 61 year old catsailor buddy who saw it today, after my advice. He was very thrilled to have seen it. No age restrictions here, even though it is rated X, er um I mean G.

GARY

yea, I saw that here in oz! it was some papparazzi action show and they were pestering him on the beach with some female friend. then they show you him on the nacra, he is sitting down skippering and his mate is out on trap.. didnt see a harness on him though. unrelated but in a clip ive got of an old australian band called sherbet they are on top of some sand dunes sitting on top of a old (well new when the clip was shot) scow moth.

The only info I can find for Australian cats in the 50's were 20 foot Yvonnes (which from day one flew spinnakers), designed in 1951 by lindsay cunningham of little americas cup fame they were sailing in good numbers by 56, go here for their history. http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/9449/#YVONNE20%20CATAMARAN
by the early 60's there were numerous very fast cats like the Arrow and arafura cadet sailed at clubs everywhere.
I remember the film being done because my father worked at the shell refinery at geelong in Victoria where the sub was filmed docked at the pier. He was told if employees were filmed as they worked, to stand still as they would be deleted from the film stock by hand. My dad also built a 14 foot ply cat with a solid deck at this time and the first time he took it out couldn't turn it around as the rudders smashed, typical of cats at that time. He had an oar onboard, dropped the sail, sculled the cat around, rehoisted the sail, got to shore, and left it there never to sail it again. A big storm came through later and washed it away which he was rather grateful for as he said the cat scared the hell out of him.
