Does anyone have a schedule of races for 05. I am looking into a F boat as I have family to consider now.

Thanks
Steve

Try the Corsair site or the FCA/FTA site.

Hi Thom,
Really tough site to navigate and what schedules I found were not for sure.., and had no dates. Only thing solid was the Nationals at Pensacola on Apr 23-28.
Dang, I wish they would schedule earlier in the month so I could sail in them again -- they have lately scheduled late in April when I do two back2back seminars for Laser/Sunfish and Cats, followed by the Atlantic 1000.

Hello Rick-

The whole year looks like a mess to me... The problem with Fboats is the lack of them except in Fla. If you're in Texas you had better plan on a F28R and go to Houston. MZotsky has got that organized! IF you have an F25c [like me] its the nationals or open racing where the handicap ranges from 45 to -45 PHRF depending on the area. If you don't mind traveling all over the USA you can almost enjoy a pro circuit atmosphere in that the competition is fierce in all classes with some of the guys having almost professional crews.

My F25c is the closest I have found to a medium speed beachcat in performace. Its no ARC22 [also mine] but not as demanding physically either. It goes together in less than two hours and comes down in less time.

The main thing I like about the Fboats is the knowledge shared by the owners, builders, pro/semi racers. Sure some of the top racers don't volunteer info but most do.

Ian Farrier is a "Pied Piper" with his designs being sailed, built and raced around the world. I don't know of any current designer with that following of the three [builders, owners, racers].

old catsailors belong in Fboats,

thom

Hi THom,
We almost bought an F28R last fall, but decided to invest in property instead.., probably a good move, but I sure would have like having one.
I loved sailing the F25C with Lyman White when they first came on the scene -- it was really responsive on the helm and very fast.., easy to fly the middle hull in many cases. And, as you mentioned, pretty easy on the body.
The next best tri to the 25 was the 28R -- it also seemed spritely and responsive.
Never cared for the 27 as it felt like driving a truck and had no feel to the helm.

The folks in Lake Erie have a really great schedule and am sure there are pockets like that around the country. However, the only ones that send me schedules are the Lake Erie Group.
Too bad.

Take care,
Rick

Thom, I'll contact Marc Waters from Houston who is spearheading the effort and ask, I will let you know or have him contact you. At this point the "circuit" is just a proposal that will hopefully be successful.

Wayne,
Don't forget, if you need crew I'd like to get on that F-boat. With some notice I can probably clear some time.

In the Dallas area there is a lake [Ray Roberts] thats about 30000 acres. Its a Game Preserve. Theres a lodge there that will accomodate Fboats with wide slips. It has a restaurant as well. Go to the FTA/FCA site to the files section and loojk for LAKE RAy Roberts. I put several pics of the area and the slips. Also, he could contact LaVida [local Corsair dealer 1-800-221-3000] and speak with Richard Clary.

I think the docks would accomodate 12 Fboats???
