I'm sorry, but I must disagree. Here are my two cents worth.

I am always drawn to ebay because I feel like I'm going to find a bargain. I have yet to. When the final hours of an auction arrive, I see used merchandise selling at or above market value. I have seen used items selling for more than I know they can be had for new - retail.

If this were the case in a open and fair auction, I would say that market forces were at work. But I wonder... Invariably, the reserve is set high and thus there is no true auction. Or, in No Reserve auctions, there always seems to be some one-off user who has the highest bid, and I wonder if this is not the seller just running up the bid. Hey, if Christies and Sotheby's, large 'reputable' auction houses, are guilty of price manipulation, what keeps these ebay jokers from doing as they please?

Surely not all ebay auctions are this way. I have purchased from ebays sellers, and I got a fair deal. But I find that too often ebay is crowded with sellers who make their living pushing garage sale merchandise at a premium.

Buyer beware!

Know what you are looking for and shop it aggressively on the internet. You will probably find the item for less.
