Eric Poulsen himself asked for prices in 2002 and the Spitfire was then quotes at

12.500 Euro's

From memory I remember a price of about 13.000 to 13.500 in 2004 because of inflation and other developments (= 9000 to 9300 pounds).

For US customers devide this Euro price by 1.19 (taxes) and than multiply it with 1.30 (exchange rate) and add 1500 to 2000 for transport.

13.000 Euro's now converts to about 16.000 US$

Even with hard negociating and some discount I don't see a Spitfire go under 15.000 US$ to a US customer. The exchange rate is just to bad at this time.

The Taipan F16 is around this number as well, for US customers.

Best import choose still is the Stealth F16 at 7800 * 1.45 = 11.310 Euro's => about 14.250 US$

But if you are really interested in a fast 16 footer than for US customers their is only 1 real option.

The US build Blade F16 (in Florida by vectorworks marine) ; retail price that was quoted is 12.850 US$ ready to sail.

I seem to remember that that was less than all the competition including the 17 footers like the FX-one.

Hi had to register and post to this discussion having only read previously,I have sailed dinghies for 20+ years and switched to the Spitfire because it sails like a dinghy, tacks very quickly (without even backing the jib most times)boy does it point high as well. Fast in all conditions.
We are having a ball sailing it, cant recommend it highly enough.
Expensive? my new boat cost £8650 (pounds!!)
Get them in the US !! if sailings your thing worth every penny.

Welcome to the world of fast boats! By the way, nobody on a cat with daggerboards needs to back the jib to tack. Most of the new cats have self tacking jibs, they tack so fast you cannot get in, across and out on the wire fast enough! That along with the spinnaker makes these new cats light years ahead of the Hobie 16's, which were great back in the day, but I feel gave cats somewhat of a bad name in the mono world (they gave them the idea that cats can't point, always pitch pole and take forever to tack).
