The pin holes on mast step have been broken.
I put metal putty to fill in the gaps. Has anyone done this? Will it hold if I step the mast? Opinions and ideas aside from replacing the step.

I assume that you are talking about the "ears" that like to break off at the hole for the hinge pin. I brought my H16 to a local welder that could do aluminum. He built up the area with weld and I then used a disc grinder to reshape it to the original look. I then drilled the hole and it was good as new. Only cost me $15.00. I'm not sure the metal putty will take the strees.

Yoh... have done the same process to the other side (mast base) I also have heard that some people weld the areas that limit the rotation of the mast. The aluminum welds well and the result is reliable.
