SOME HOBIE 16 NEWS!



In 2002 the first Greek H16 championships will take place.



New Spanish Hobie Fleet has started for sailing season 2002, with a strong H16 fleet.



Australian Hobie Cat Championships is expecting the largest H16 turnout in years.



The Inaugural Commonwealth Sailing Championships is going to take place in 2003 and the H16 has been invited.



NAHCA is sending the biggest group of H16 teams to the H16 worlds in years, 16 total teams. They can only send 16 teams, yes there is still a cut off limit for how many teams can race in the H16 worlds.



In 2001, UK had youth H16 and Dragon regatta, and will continue for 2002, and beyond.



NAHCA chooses the Dragon as the junior cat for sailors’ ages 11-15 and the H16 for ages 16-21. We talked about using the Wave for sailors ages 11-21 or 11-15 but it seems the Dragon and H16 will be the cats for the juniors and youth.



NAHCA is working hard to bring the H16 Worlds to the USA in 2004. Seems it may be held in Mexico, Yucatan Peninsula as this area is growing very fast, and ordering a lot of H16’s.



Hobie 16 chosen for ISAF World Sailing Games (June 2002) for both men and women’s disciplines.



Hobie 16 ISAF Youth Worlds in 2004 and beyond.



South American Hobie 16 Nationals taking place again and is predicted to bigger and better for 2002.



Deutscher Segler-Verband (German sailing organization) announces the H16 as the youth boat.



USSA Multihull Council is holding their youth event again with H16’s.



Mexico, Yucatan Peninsula is holding another youth H16 event again for 2002.



In addition, all former H16 nationals will be held again for 2002 with talk of other events developing.



H16 will be in the Pan American Games gain.



Once again, the H16 Worlds are talking place this April 2002 and the Trapseat worlds in July 2002.



Seems the H16 is cruising full speed into the new century and new millennium.
