I'm looking to launch my Hawaiian outrigger canoe at the end of the month and am looking to steer with a tiller rather than a paddle. Does anyone know of a source for local catsailors that might have a used rudder assembly to buy? I'm familiar with CRAM and CRAW and will check there, but was wondering about something closer.

How big of rudder do you need? I have a rudder/tiller assembly from a Butterfly dingy. It's all aluminum and has a kick-up design. There's about 20" of rudder below the bottom mount. Check the photo links below.

It'll be hung off of the aft crossbeam, so I may need to get a longer rudder. The boat has 18" of overall height and with two passengers should have between 9-12" of freboard. I suppose I could attach it so the upper pintle/ gougeon meets right at the aft crossbeam. I'll have to do some more measuring and get back to you. How robust would you say the tiller, cheeks, and pintle/ gougeon are?
