Hey All ,

Rob , Doc and I are planning to do some three boat testing with our Taipan F16's to ( in theory) optimize boat speed and evaluate sailing angles vs, V.M.G. . It occurs to me that differences in our weights , sails and other minutia related to equipment could make data interpretation pretty tough...

My question is : how can we structure the test time (control the variables?), on the water so that interpretations of value can be derived ?

Any incites much appreciated !

Warm Regards,

Paul

This article by Randy Smyth on testing for the '84 Olympics is a good place to start.

Quiet 1 ,

You should chime in more often - good stuff ; just what I needed...

{ Doc - when you read this - i'm thinking your place would be the optimal "Camp F16" as you're closest to Huntington and Zinnia is running an international " Camp My Husband Is Sailing - Let's Party " that weekend...}

Paul,

I've got camp site reservations for both the Commodores (6/25-26) and High Sierra (7/9-10). We'll call it Camp F16. Rob is actually heading up 6/17 and staying all week--I'm going to take my boat then as he wants some spinnaker tips. If you want to crash at my house before going up let me know. Is Bo going--I could bring my kayak also and they could go fishing.

High Sierra info:

It should be a lot of fun racing with these guys again:

There's a couple I14 sailors in town and we've put in request for more races this year.

Paul--another thing--Millerton is about 80 degrees now, with 10-18mph breezes in the afternoon. So if you want some "tropical" conditions, come down this weekend!
