The second Race in the Trident Series, The Great Bay Race, will be held Saturday June 25,2005 in Fort Walton Beach,Fl. This Saturday only event will be hosted by CMA at the Fort Walton Yacht Club. This event has a 25 year history of providing an excellent venue in the beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay with the steady southwest sea breeze filling in for what is usually double trap conditions. The event this year will be a steeple chase format and will consist of a 20 to 30 mile route around the Bay and back to the Yacht Club. After the racing is over enjoy a cookout at the Yacht Club gazebo on the point with beer, beverages and a great cookout with all the trimmings.The race will start and finish of the point at the yacht club and there is plenty of sandy areas and beach to rig on....those that arrive early will have the best choices. Registration is set for 9a.m. with Skippers meeting at 10 a.m. and the race starting at 11 a.m. Expected finish time is late afternoon so there is plenty of time to derig and enjoy the cookout and awards before heading out. The entry fee for this years event is $30 for doublehanded and $25 for singlehanded boats and will include trophies, beer and beverages, and a commemorative Great Bay Race hat.....and a guaranteed world class fun time. The full Yacht Club facilities are available which include hot showers after the days racing so pack up that boat and we will see you on Saturday June 25!
