I just got an email showing that Pete Melvin (one of 2 US sailors of the 100 competitors) on his Nacra A2 is in 2nd place after 2 races! It makes you wonder what it would be if his mast had made it to the regatta instead of a replacement! He has two 2nd place finishes, but Australia's Steven Brewin has the lead with two 1st Place finishes! Nils Bunkenberg of Germany is in 3rd with a 5th and 6th, followed closely by Frenchman Robert Nagy with an 8th and 4th. Italian Valerio Petrucci rounds out the top 5 with 7th and 13th place finishes. The 6th place is held by Michael Tobler of Switzerland, making 6 different countries represented in the top 6. Defending World Champion Glen Ashby had a 3rd in the first race followed by being Black Flagged in the 2nd race, giving Glen a total of 104 points for the first 2 races.

Saw Melvin sail last summer--in the groove all the time.

Anyone know why Ashby was black flagged?

The website address is:
http://www.mondial-voile-2005.org/
There isn't much on the English pages so if you want the results click on the French flag icon.

I found this on the European Hobie cat web site.

Secondly, Hobie Cat Europe is pursuing the development of a high-tech Hobie Cat Class A that will probably make its first appearance on the regatta scene at the Class A World Championships organised in Sanguinet (France) from 18th to 24th June 2005).

Does anyone know who's sailing one? Or the rest of the story.

Ted

Looks like Stevie has been doing some training. Steve is a past World Champ. Went off the boil for a few years and stop sailing for about a year or more after becoming a Dad then building his house.

Looks like he is back in form....... Go hard Stevie and hope to see you back at the club soon.
