I don't think the horse is dead at all!

Sandy Hook hosts the best attended distance race in North America for beach cats! They seem to know something!

You can't say that that 50 lbs extra weight won't effect a boat's performance.

I would probably believe everything but the Lady's Man part.... From what I have heard... that is just a dream!

I know Jack Kennedy... He is no Jack Kennedy!

Maybe so, but he did break an Inter-20 boom with his naughty bits! Did Jack Kennedy ever do that?

Maybe he should go by the name "Capt. Calamity"...

Nah, my horse is dead and I'm tired of beating it. It's starting to smell funny too.

As for the offending N20 skippers. The official letters of reprimand are in the mail.

Awhh.. I figured you would go ballistic over the use of weight correction factors for calculating the Portsmouth overall win so that second to the beach corrects into first overall!

I am sure you have something to say about this. No?
Mark

Well, I have something to say. I am totally opposed to weight modification factors for Portsmouth. Thank goodness we don't have minimum crew weight for the Hobie Waves. We are doing series racing twice a week up here on Lake Erie, and Rick is winning all the races, even though he outweighs my sister and I by almost 100 pounds, and one of the male competitors by almost 50 pounds. And the races have all been in light air! On top of that, he never remembers to drain the water out of his hulls -- and I sure don't remind him!

Weight modification factors make sense. The game is Horsepower to weight ratio and drag. Heavy sailors don't have as much Hp/weight and they have more drag! If you want to play fair, then you should use weight modification factors.

The International F18 Class Rules seems to have corrected for this better than anything I have seen prior. If you weigh less than 308 lbs. you use smaller jib and spinnaker. Weights are corrected for by adding 1/2 lb. per lb. underweight the skipper and crew are. It is working in our club and we have several crews using the smaller sail plan. In this class, two women would have very good chances of being competitive with two men, even when there is significant weight differences. This situation does not exist in most classes (other than the Nacra F17, which has large and small spinnakers and weight corrections to minimum similar to F18).

Just my opinion. BTW, the N20 is very powerful and big crews seem very competitive on that platform. This is not the case for most catamarans.
