I just got a hobie 16 and once I get a few repairs done then I'll be looking for a place to sail it. I'm located in Bethesda MD, just north of DC, and would like to find a pretty close place to sail. I've checked some maps and the closest thing I've found is Annapolis which is a good 45 minutes. Anyone around here have some suggestions? Thanks.

It may not take less time to get there but another option is Washington Sailing Marina. A good Hobie fleet active there. The marina is just off the GW Parkway.

About 15 years ago I "arm twisted" the folks at Sandy Point State Park to include a hand launch area (which, at least when I last saw it) allowed you to drive you boat and trailer to the water and put it in.

The wind off the park is great until about 7 p.m. in the Summertime; then generally you have to paddle yourself home. My suggestion, start early, finish early.
