OK, I have a Supercat 17 with the old style wire traveler and I am considering changing to the more modern Harken traveler as sold on the new ARC 17s. The Harkens are expensive, so I was looking around for other tracks. I have a bunch of the tracks for Hobie 14s and 16s and I also had a unique one that came off of a wrecked Sol Cat 18. It has a car, but it also has swivel cam cleats on each end that you can release with a traveler line from any position on the boat. Since you have control at both ends of the track, you can pull the traveler to the windward side if wanted.

I remember the old Hobie 14s and 16s had the jam cleat at each end of the track and that was a pain in the butt to move. This system seems pretty cool and would allow you to windward sheet the main.

My 17 is boomless and I heard somewhere that windward sheeting a boomless rig in light wind was really fast and that you could sail upwind much closer with a windward sheeting system.

Any comments??
