I have beeen using the Harken Psycho mainsheet system on my 5.7 taipan but this system is not nearly psycho enough. These blocks are very light and have a low profile but I noticed a serious drop in performance after about half a season and after 2 seasons it totally exploded! I find it abit of a joke as this was very expensive stuff and lasted such a short time, does anyone know of other alternative products. For the mean time its back to the old school (20 year old) harken system.

Have you considered contacting Harken about the problem? There is a Harken technical rep by the name of Jim Bourne that is a great guy and he knows his catamarans. Perhaps he can help you out? It seems like it is worth a try.

At least tell them what happened and see if they will make amends for the failure of their product.

Cheers
Bob

Thanks Bob, when they first started playing up I sent the blocks back to Harken who said that it was just a tight retaining bolt and "normal wear." But I think I'll send it again, my guess is the bearings are the weakness. Maybe they could produce a more robust high load set?
