From the Hobie Forums...

Looks like 45 Boats racing, 12 Hobie 18s and 33 Hobie 20s.

>>We got out on the water yesterday about 11am and a HUGE storm kicked up outta nowhere and we all got stuck on the lake. 50ish boats out in the middle with 30+ winds and so much rain you couldn't see 50 feet. It was pretty eerie as when we looked back as we were slowly heading back to the beach, you couldn't see the other boats behind us, only the top 5 feet of their masts.

A couple of hours later we got 3 races in, results are not posted yet as there were some protests yesterday and the protest meeting lasted well into the night. Great welcome party at Docks on the Lake with nearly 150 people there.

Wind is supposed to be lighter today....

www.fleet10.com to see results later today. Hopefully the pics will be up too.<<

Man - that was some tight racing. Top three 20s were VERY close in the final standings. Outstanding job.

That's an understatement. On the last day of racing, only one point seperated the top three boats in the 20 fleet. By the last race on the last day, the top two boats in the 18 fleet were tied. In fact, on the last leg of the last race they rounded C mark together and headed for the finish, each choosing a different side of the course.

The competition was very intense at all levels and the event was a huge success for a terrific Iowa fleet. Check out the Fleet 10 Web site for full results and loads of photos, and check out the next Hobie Class News for the full story.
