i have been told my hulls cannot be repaired. they have extensive delamination (?). mostly around the forward vent caps to the bow tips. if they cant be repaired can they be replaced with used ones?

I've seen some pretty amazing stuff get repaired before. Is the delamination on the top decks or in the sides of the hulls. Any photos?

If you can find another H16 for a good deal you can mix and match parts to create the uberboat. It may end up being cheaper (both time and $$) than trying to repair really bad hulls.

It's not worth the trouble. Someone, somewhere will have an eye on an older 16 that's somewhere. The advice you've been given to mix and match parts is a lot better.

You'll find it tough to dispose of the old hulls; remove the gudeons, etc. for future use. If you get a set of safety glasses and a chain saw, you'll probably be able to cut it up and get rid of it at a dump.

Good Luck,
Wyatt

Chris,

I've talked to Keith about WRCRA a few times. I will be out of town this weekend so, unfortunatly, I will miss the race.

I just moved here and haven't gotten my work schedule organized yet, but I am planning on getting involved next season. I have never raced and would love to crew so I can learn what I am doing before I skipper in a race. I just want to make sure I can commit. If you know of anyone looking for a regular crew for next season and is willing to teach a rookie, please let me know.

From your web site you guys look like alot of fun. Plus, the mast up storage is really appealing to me. Launching at Sandy Point is a pain when pulling the boat up the beach.

Yeah, Me! I'll PM you with my contact info and questions: Like weight, height, equipment requirements, time commitment options, experience, spin experience, level of patience for light air, and distance race experience.

Your outlook on light air can be really important here on the West River and the Chesapeake. Our club races in wind, no wind, and rain with wind. Sometimes we push-off in the no wind with a little rain condition.

In the past two years, I have brought two prople into sailing and cat sailing. They use to be people, but now they are cat sailors. Both of which are about to own their own boats.

Learning your way around the river and all the marks we use is very important. This reaction can be avoided: “Where the Hell is P mark; X and F gates, never heard of them let alone seen them.”

I’m probably looking for a rotating crew situation, depending on the crew pool.

If you haven’t already, you may want to get on our e-mail list thru Keith.

I look forward to talking with you,

Chris Allen
