From personal experience with Taipan and Stealth (and from what I've heard about the Blade), the performance and workmanship of each are exceptional.

In US dollars, prices for the base F16 sloop version of each is, to the best of my knowledge:

Taipan $15,503 (current price)
Stealth 13,991 (current price)
Blade 12,500 (this quote is a few months old)

***The prices do not include shipping, port fees, taxes/customs, etc.

For what it's worth, the Spitfire shouldn't be forgotten as it is obviously a very competetive boat. At last check it was priced above the rest.

I am trying to evaluate the 2006 Stealth Vs. the Blade from a performance, ease of use and build qulaity perspective. Can you please share your experiences?

I will be using the boat to sail either with my 8 yr old son or wife and will also sail solo occassionally. I have sailed Toranados, P19 etc in the past?

Tks
Asim,

Asim,

I regularly sail my Stealth with my 10yr old son crewing. He absolutely loves coming out on the boat and we've even beaten a local F18 on actual time several times in F4+.

Because the F16 can be sailed solo it's a simple job to sail with a youngster. You can leave the jib off if you want (we don't). Downwind I'll let my son helm and I'll launch and play the spin and main. I'll then let him recover the spin at the leeward mark while I'm getting set for upwind. Then it's both out on the wire for a blast!

The really big advantage of the Stealth over the other F16's is that it comes with a carbon mast as standard, so righting from a capsize is an absolute cinch even though I only weigh 65Kg!

Either or any of your F16 choices would give you competitive performance and will be equally easy to use. I can only comment on the build quality of the stealth, which I find to be very acceptable with excellent builder backup. You should bear in mind though that the Stealth uses T-foil rudders which means that the rudder raises/lowers vertically so beach departures/landings require some forethought and planning. Get that right and you will have no problems.

Where are you based?
