Coming soon, 15th/16th October.... Single handed F16's and FX1's. This is the second event for the F16 class in the UK this season. We expect to be represented by about ten F16's. Thanks to those of you who have offered accomodation to us travellers. Anybody who I haven't invited is more than welcome to attend, we will be sorting out next seasons circuit over beers in the bar.
Datchet is near London, not that far from Holland, would love to see a Blade or Taipan there.

John forgot to mention that Yachts and Yachting have kindly agreed to do a boat test on the Stealth F16 at this event. Thanks Jeremy. We are also going to make a video of it, so please please please all you recreational sailors have your boats looking clean and refined and wear your best kit. Of course you cant expect the racing to be taken that seriously since there will only be entry level boats there, and just two ex-olympic squad participating.

I'm offering the webspace to host both the video and Yacht and Yachting report that will result from this "F16 - FX-one" encounter.
I would really like to some more Stealth related web content. Now that I've increased the available webspace I think we should use that to highlight the Stealth design. God knows that the Blade design has gotten his share many times over.
Can you ask the Yacht and Yachting guy to send us the digital verion of his report and clear us for using it on our webpage ? I can take it from there. Thanks
This event is a great initiative. Just as the Gulfport "A-cat - F16" race weekends that were held during march 2004 and 2005. We should have more of these.
Lets not worry too much about who wins this get-together. It will most probably be the best sailor/crew !
Main point is that all enjoy themselfs and hone their skills with some additional race experience.
After all as both the F16 and FX-one class are small at this time, hooking up and having fun together is very attractive to both of our classes. I'm hoping that this will become a recurring event. And that we can get something like this off the ground in the Netherlands as well.
All the best on 15th and 16th oktober.

Just simple a classic post.A subtle amalgam of sarcasm, wit, enmity and truth with just a wiff of estrogen. The whole Stealth program just keeps looking better and better...

John, Forgive me if I ask a dumb question but where are you gonna sail exactly? According to Google maps there is very little water around... Click here for Google Map

Here's a Google Earth image of Datchet Sailing Club:
The objects arranged on the slopes leading up to the club are dinghies and catamarans, not cars. I think they have storage for about 300+ boats and ample car parking. The reservoir is almost 500 acres when full and is very deep. They usually manage to set a good sized W/L course in the prevailing S. Westerlies and conditions are reasonably steady as the whole pond is raised some 60ft above the surrounding countryside.

Don't knock the limited water space at Datchet, it is about as far from the coast in any direction as England will allow so any stratch of water that is 600 or so acres is pretty descent, has great facilities with excellent safety cover, racing every Wednesday night during summer and racing both Sunday morning and afternoon in the Autumn. Has an increasingly large number of cats based there so there is always someone to team up with on the 6 days per week it is open to members.
See you there.

Here are the results of the weekend F16/FX-1 racing at Datchet. The fleet was pretty even except for Aaron who dominated throughout, as the results show.
The last race was more entertaining as a strong squall blew through, causing multiple capsizes. Here the T foils on the Stealths proved their worth by keeping most the Stealths upright, as the result shows. Aaron managed a second place by finishing the race on his side! And that was when the wind had blown through!
Apart from that the racing was pretty even.
Adrian Jones became the new FX-1 national champion.
Mr Hobie Cat UK, Steve Beard, presented the FX-1 trophy and very generously provided prizes for the whole event. Thanks Steve. A star as always.
A sucessful event and proved how well the fleets sailed together. If you are looking for an exciting single hander then consider the FX-1 or the Stealth and sail at Datchet!
Thanks to Datchet Water Sailing Club which seems to be a centre for catamarans, especially single handers.

Apologies to all, I said I would post the results, but have only just got home... long way Datchet to West Wales!
Well the results are there now, but I'd like to add a few thank yous.
Thanks to all who kindly gave accommodation to us travellers. Thanks to Lucille for cooking us all a lovely meal on Saturday night, and a breakfast Sunday. Thanks to rescue for taking me out on RIB to video action, unfortunately in John P's kindness in showing you all the footage, he failed to FF the tape to end, so I re-recorded over most of Saturday, there is a bit though. Ah yes, the boat test, Jeremy Evans, Y&Y sent his apologies, is now scheduled for November at Weymouth, will keep you posted.
