i tapered my battens yesterday and was very pleased with the nice airfoil shape produced in my old sail. how much tension should i use on the battens? should i vary the tension for different winds? should i release and retension after each sail? i need a little more boatspeed to catch up with al this spring- we start our spring series in three weeks!

Generally you Increase Tension (Increase sail curvature) when needing more power, due to Light winds, High waves or crew weight. Respectively you would Decrease Tension (Flatter sail Shape) when needing less power and more speed due to strong winds, less wave and crew weight. (The Three W's)

Always store the sails with Tension completely reduced.
