Looks like we have interest in an event for competitors from

England
Wales
Scotland
Holland

So the 4 nations trophy will be held in 2006.

Input required as to dates and suitable venues.

So far we have the following proposed venues

Pembrokeshire similar event to 2005 nationals.

Mumbles Yacht club

Weymouth (to coincide with speed week)

An East coast venue

Timing

Weymouth would be in September

Either Welsh venue could be pretty much any time

If any sailors from other countries are interested we can expand it it to 5 or 6 or? nations trophy.

Have we decided on a definitive title for this event guys?

I notice that it has been referred to as the "5 Nations Cup" (do we even have a cup?) on this forum as well as the 4 or 5 Nations Trophy.

Mumbles Yacht Club are listing it in their calendar as the "Stealth 5 Nations Cup and Nationals" rather than the F16 etc.

Would it not be a good idea to come up with a definitive title and publish NOR? It might actually make it look as though we know what we are doing!!!

I will find a trophy, let's call it just the Nations Cup, we now have Bjorn coming over from Germany with a new Blade, so entries are up to 12, also he is happy to double trail with someone else, maybe from Holland, Wouter?

What about the Jocks, any of you guys able to join us?

Okay, I'm seriously considering coming over myself with my crew. I have a few more hurdles to take before I can commit to it, but I'm serious about it.

John, I asked around in NL and maybe we can see another come out as well. No garantees, but there is interest in coming out.

I'll certainly give it some thought. I saw Mike Young last weekend and he wasn't ruling it out either. Haven't seen Malcolm over the winter but he's likely to be doing a yacht regatta on a leadmine that weekend.

I've chnged it to "F16 Nations Cup and Stealth Nationals".

Let me know if that's still innaccurate...

great news

Aaron Young is now also coming to the Nations Cup, so that makes 13 confirmed entries, any other takers out there?

OK Everyone,

The weekend is rapidly approaching. What are peoples' plans?

I am intending to travel to Wales on Friday evening, but latish, planning to arrive maybe 10pm or later. I am assuming that I'll be able to dump the trailer at Mumbles Y C.

I haven't booked accommodation yet though. Is anybody camping or most people booking B&B?

Paul has decided that as he has his end of year exams in the second week of June he can't really crew for me so I'm solo this year. Are most entries uni or sloop?

Camping is a fair trek on foot (about 15-20 mins) but it is available (see link below). All the B&Bs on the link below are within easy walking distance of the club. Beach House is nearest and has a flat roof area to dry off kit.

You can leave your trailer in Knab Rock car park, opposite the club. If the 'council boys' are still there, ask them where they would like you to leave it. If in doubt come into the club first; we'll be in the bar...!

you guys never heard this from me. So hush hush.

One more team from Netherlands is expected to attend as well. Doublehanded and it is not me. There rather good sailors as well.

As it stands now I'll be unable to bring my own boat and my crew will be attending a wedding. So my participation is tentative at this time. However, I have just inquired about a possible alternative.

Looks like a good mix. I'll be single handing on the Monday as Ann has to work.

Sailwave, do you know of any houses we could take over on mass as there are a number of us all looking for accomadation and it maybe better to all club in together and hire a holiday cottage or such like.

I am interested in sailing. Will have spent the previous week yacht racing so would be keen to get on a cat. Got warm sailing gear now.

If there are any boats available would prefer to steer, but beggars can't be too choosy so can crew. Can only do the Sat/Sun as I need to work.

Cheers
JC

You could try Clyne Farm but I don't know of any houses as such.

But you'll need to travel by car to the sailing club.

Sailwave, John P has kindly offered his ranch which requires a drive in to the club each day, we were just trying to prevent the driving bit ( as we do like to party in the evenings ) and the Mumbles has an open event on at the same time, I would guess it will be party time at the clubhouse.

Mary, temps range from about 12 to 20 C at the moment but the water temp is almost at its coldest after the winter period. Wales is slightly different as it has its heating from the ocean currents sweeping past, hence all the rain.

I'm sure we can find a floor or two for any stragglers...

Quite happy to bring a small tent along if you have a small bit of ground we can put it up on. The next question is how many stragglers can you handle as I know there are others looking to tent it / floor it, not tooo many of course.

With thanks

Wayne.
