We have used Magellan 315's for about 3 years now, and they have given reliable service. They are fairly easy to use, although newer models have charting and WASS. These certainly have been adequately accurate.

One complaint would be the short battery life. I typically find that 8-9 hours is all I can rely on, with (2) new AA cells. That can be kind of short for some distance racing efforts.

We have the blue and white Magellan Meridian Marine GPS. We use it on our Hobie20! It works great. Easy to read, very accurate (within 3 meters). We carry it in a blue and clear pvc waterproof bag from West Marine that has a lanyard (perfect fit). We put the lanyard around our neck and it's always there.

The battery life is ALL DAY+. Usually about 12-14hrs as I use NiMH 1600 or 1750 AA batteries.

On the down side of these GPS's - as of date there are no downloadable maps. Also the power button tends to get pushed when you are carrying it on the boat.

Other than that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GPS!
