Posts: 5,590 Naples, FL | Thanks for the info.
I would presume our next annual meeting is at Tradewinds?
Have we had any feedback on the regatta sanctioning?
Any ideas for goals next year?
Just a thought....I know we don't have any money, but how about sponsoring some sort of 3-4 race bouy series? Try it in one area, if it is successful, hold similar series in a few of the more populated districts (or regions). I think this would get the name out, and possibly attract new members (or get old members back)

Posts: 5,590 Naples, FL | Well, there originally was some buzz created when NAMSA suggested sanctioning races. It has apparantly died down a bit, and I would presume it was due to a lack of understanding on the part of the clubs considering it. Do they see a benefit to having their races "sanctioned"? If so, what is it (the benefit).
As the insurance was concerned, the PRO and organizers would have had limited coverage, but some people may have read that as meaning they had carte blanche coverage on any activity they pursued which is clearly not the case. Those that were told this have since secured coverage for themselves. To provide coverage for them would require a lot of work on our part (getting tons of information, constantly revising the underwriting, etc.) and cost some serious money (which I don't think the memberships would cover).
Does NAMSA supply the "voice" that catsailors need when it comes to issues that affect them? Do we lobby for anything? Do we even know who to lobby? Have we made any attempt to be recognized by US Sailing?
To get back to basics, what was NAMSA going to do that the other associations wouldn't? I know that NAHCA kicked out non-Hobies, which started the stir, but were we aiming at creating a similar organization?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to be prepared in case anyone asks, and also to be on the same page as the rest of you when we solicit new members...
