UPDATE 4/10/2002
*** NEWS FLASH! The R33 will be at Sail Expo 4/17 thru 4/21 For info go to
http://www.sailamerica.com/show_pacific.cfm Watch for upcoming photos and
video of the R33 in the water in the next 2 weeks. ***
Since our last update of 3/15/2002 both hulls have been completed. Also
parts for the main beam, rudder system, outboard and many other
miscellaneous parts for boat number one are being ordered and collected
everyday. However, for the last 3 weeks our attention was also focused on
building additional tooling to produce more boats quicker. Due to the rising
interest and orders for boats we decided to proceed immediately with a
second set of tooling.
So consequently, we are near completion of a new hull and deck master that
will allow us to build hull and deck molds number two. With two sets of
molds we will be able to produce one set of hulls per week.
This last week it was also decided we would attend the Pacific Sail Expo in
Oakland Ca. We plan to have boat number one at the show minus the rig. We
will have the two hulls with beams, tramp and a finished interior to show in
the water in Slip ?L? in the multihull marina. Watch for upcoming photos and
video of the R33 (minus rig) under power and in the water in the next 2
weeks.

For the next two weeks we will prepare for and attend the boat show,
continue to build new tooling for our long term production of the R33 and
also finish building boat number one and her many small components. It is
our intent to sail two weeks after we get back from the show. That would put
us at a late April to early May sea trial date.
Although we want to be sailing as soon as possible we will not rush boat
number one. However, we will continue to build and order parts for boats
number 2, 3 and 4 as not to delay future production. And as not to
compromise hull strength in boats 2, 3 and 4, the hulls, decks and bunks
will be stocked unassembled. This will allow us the ability to reinforce the
hulls if boat number one shows any weaknesses during sea trials. We do not
anticipate any structural problems as we have constructed the boat to be
strong instead of light. We could save more weight from the hulls if we were
constructing a full-on race boat. But that was not our intent to build a
full-on race boat. The R33 will be fast but more importantly she will be
strong.
