I have two old hobies. The '75 I just bought looks like it hasn't been in salt water. The '77 for sure has. Since I sail in the Pacific I need to combat the corosion.

One place that was bad on the '77 was where the stainless pylon bolt goes throught the aluminum. It is eaten out around the hole. I'm wondering about putting in aluminum bolts there to stop the galvanic corosion.

I have a product in a can that is called cold galvanizing compound. I'm thinking I could spray that around all the SS to aluminum contact areas. I also have alot of silicone that I got at an auction. I could put that in a spray bottle and spray everything with it.

Here in Santa Cruz every-one stores their cats on the beach and there is no rinsing facilities availible.

I'd rather not see this 30 year old Hobie 16 deteriorate too fast. It has done so well over the first 30 years.
