What the photos don't show is the true "end". Looking closely, I see that those two sailors are still on the wire in the 3rd photo. Wonder what it looked like when the pendulum came swinging back in.

The F18 in those shots is being skippered by current Tornado world champion Darren Bundock, there is one more photo in the series that shows them reattached to the boat. http://www.acay.com.au/~gonzo/pics_newcaledonia.html And on a post to the Aussie Taipan forum Darren explains that they sailed away from it! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/taipan/message/1160
