Posts: 267 Switzerland | Hi Wouter The boats that I examed at Springfever 2002 actually had misaligned hull halves. This means that the "seams" were created by one hull halve protruding past the other halve.
I simply don't believe this! Pictures too proof! Because I know exactly how Bimare joins there hulls. They are guided by a notch and feather system. I have seen broken hullseams on other boats, but not on the bim. I actually beleave that this part of the hull is very strong. When we were at the factory in Rimini, we could have a look at some drilled out rest items with the seam. To test the strength of seam we smacked that little thing with a hammer. It broke everywhere else but not at the seam... bigger picture ... I don't know what happend between WFO and Bimare and I don't care anymore, that is historie for me now. To bad it didn't turn out into a win win situation! I for my self think, that we should look at the boats in a positive way. but what ever ... | | | Re: Watch the video!!!

Posts: 267 Switzerland | Hi David The crew changes sides in front of the mast during the tack, so the boat dosen't drag the sterns. Because the helmsman is way back at this time and releases the main sheet and handles the tiller. Mutcho mas rapido! >One thing you can do on a jib-less boat Upwind the crew handles the mainsail and downwind the gennacker, it's the same if you have a jib with a self tacker. Good winter sailing too ;-) (I'll be sailing next saturday, brr..) | | | Re: 2005 ICCT Rimini video

1. The Dealer did not treat us very well. Mike ordered a new boat and recieved a used boat. The boat was brought to Charlotte,NC buy Dennis and I took it to Mike in Atlanta. When Mike was putting the boat together The spin had a hole in it, the rigging was rusting, the hulls had scratches on the bottom, the mast had sand in the top of it, it was missing parts. The dealer said it was never sailed and he did not know what happened to it after it left him. He would not do anything. I saw pictures of a boat that looked like the one Mike bought on the Catfight site ( same sail number and color of spin) we told this to the dealer and he said maybe someone had used the spin. Still nothing. I think that is bad dealer support.
2. Our dagger boards leaked. We put tape over the holes but they just leaked. Maybe no others did but ours leaked.
3. I just don't think it sailed well the N20's were always ahead of us unless it was flat water. I am not as good as sailor as you though.
4. Our hulls leaked I don't know about any other boats, but ours leaked until we workrd on them.
5. I think the hull seam was ulgy with the electrical tape and should not look that way on a 12,000 boat. I did not like the hull seam on the older Tigers either. It is just my opinion.
6. I did not know how much the gunboat was, I thought I read it would cost around 40,000 (sorry I was wrong). The boat was really awsome. My point was that even after spending all that money on the boat it could still be beat by a stock factory boat with good sailors.
I sailed the 18 HT some 700 plus miles and in several regattas and the items I stated were the experiences I had so I don't see how they could be inaccurate. | | | Re: 2005 ICCT Rimini video

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Bob Hodges, the actual USACA President, is by far a better sailor than yourself and a widely respected guy in the US multihull community.
I don't care wether mr. Hodges is the darn USACA president, the US president or the president of the Pukipsee elderly bridge club. The truth is above us all, no matter how well you can sheet your mainsail. In addition I think the US sailing PN rating numbers have a few errors in it. Or do you think that the new A-cats are about as fast as the Hobie 20's (miracle) as well because the US sailing PN numbers say so ? And to finish you off : ..., the Javelin 2, ..., is the fastest 18 footer on the planet.
-1- The fastest 18 footer in the world is Longshot with 43.55 kts at an official world speed record on 500 mtr course. -2- Second on the list is the Australian 18 foot skiff (sorry mate !) -3- Third in the list is the nacra 5.5 sloop. Because no boat goes faster than a old overlapping jib sloop rig on a broad reach. Both the 18HT and F18's are upwind and downwind racers, NOT a reachers. Ohh and rating numbers are bad top speed estimaters What is left 4th place and beyond ! I think you get the idea. Wouter

Well, that Rimini video is very nice indeed.
You may have the last word on the other stuff.
