One of the best resources for new Hobie (and any other cat sailor for that matter) is to join NAHCA and request a copy of The Hobie University Booklet. It is not as flashy as some of the other books, but has some excellent info for newbies. I'm quitw sure that ther are other good sources, but I know this one is good.
North Shore Long Island try:
www.nensa.org At 260 righting the boat should be no problem if there is enough wind to capsize. I would recommend trying with some assistance standing by a few times. If you have any trouble carry a water bag for a little extra weight. I'm ~ 180 and have no problem righting the boat with the BAG.
