I am a Prindle CAT sailor. I own a prindle 16. I've discovered that I am very much in the minority of catamaran sailors...

I was wondering if there are any other Prindle sailors out there... especially any prindle sailors in/around the Tidewater area of Virginia. I'm haveing extreme difficulty acquiring spare parts for my boat.

I also need a mast something awful . I own a larger cruising boat as well and the marina owner has a seidleman mast that meets the length requirement of the prindle, but I haven't been able to compare the footprints of each mast yet. At a glance they look the same... size and general shape... anybody know whether or not it would work?

Thanks!!

Tidewater is pretty much dominated by Hobies, but there are a few Prindles and Nacras around. If you want to get more involved with cat sailing in the area, check out the Hobie fleet at www.hobiefleet32.org. Our members have all types of boats, so you don't have to have a Hobie to join.

Most of the 16 foot cats have about the same size mast. I have a few Hobie 16 masts and a Trac 16 mast if you would like to check them out. You can send a personal message to me here on this forum, or you can email me at danberger@mindspring.com.

I have been using CatSailor for parts- got new set of shrouds-and trampoline- they are just right- and my local Layline for some other small parts- they will let me come by to pickup. Good luck with the mast search- I only have 1 and need to keep it- the previous owner says the Prindle will really be fastest when the wind is up- > 15mph- he had H 14 and Supercat 19 too. I haven't sailed it a whole lot but if you have Prindle questions I'll try to answer.
