The Lake Eustis Sailing Club Washington's Birthday Regatta is next weekend (Feb 18 & 19). I think they had an A-Class fleet last year. Is anyone going?

2 A-class entries, all others afraid of cold air?
Gordon's boat is wrecked, so he is out. Just me coming with an A? Hmmm.

I was planning on going but if it is just you and I sailing A-Cats, I might reconsider as I don't like match racing. I have hotel reservations so I need to make a final decision as to whether I am going or not by the middle of the week. The weather predictions for next weekend are showing highs in the low to mid 70's which is not too bad.

Woodie and Rush are thinking about attending based on what Rush posted on www.1Design.net. We could have a fleet of 7 A-Cats if everyone makes it.

Trailer is in need of repair. No trailer hitch for my car yet either. At least I found time to get my boat cover fixed.

We will have between 9 and 12 Waves.., and we qualify as A Cats, I believe. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Rick,

Yep, Wave qualifies as A Class! I don't think you can use the Hooter, though. The Portsmouth number for the A Class might be tough on the Wave...should just about equal out with your exceptional talent and extensive experience!

Les,
The Wave races as a one-design class, main only.

I can't imagine the A-Class cats daring to race with us boat for boat.

The A-Cat fleet had a great time at the Washington Birthday Regatta this past weekend in Eustis. We ended up having a fleet of 9 A-cats (We would of had 10 if Gordon's boat wasn't destroy last month) We raced on the same course as the Waves and Portsmouth monohull fleet but the race committe did an excellent job selecting the course lengths for each fleet so we all finished around the same time so the wait for the next start sequence did not take too long. The course designations were a little strange. Can anyone guess what a course TW3+ is? It was a bit chilly Sunday morning but there was wind for the 9:30 start. We probably didn't actually get started till around 10:00 because most of us in the A-Cat fleet couldn't find our way to the start line. They moved our course from the north side of the lake to the south side of the lake and none of us heard the announcement Sunday morning regarding the course change.

The top threes finishes were
1st Woodie Cope
2nd Rush Bird
3rd Jennifer Lindsay

Does anyone know if the overall results have been posted on the web anywhere?

Jennifer

TW3+ = To weather three times with maybe a gate or an offset mark? Just a guess.

It means one triangle, three windward-leewards and upwind finish.

At first it was confusing for many, but it really does give a lot of versatility to the RC.
Hmmm! SHould US Sailing pay attention? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Great job of getting the A-boats out for this regatta. We got blown out at the Houston YC Midwinters on the first day and it was so cold on the second day that we did only two races. We need to come to an event on Lake Eustis soon.

How about the Performance Midwinters at Pensacola Beach March 25-26?. I think I've got Ian, myself, Brian Harrison, and Jason Sneed committed. Hopefully Mike Krantz from Atlanta will make the trip down and I might be able to get 1-2 boats to come over from Houston. I'd love to see 7-9 boats. Kirk Newkirk called me and told me he would give us our own start.
