Check out my new boat. Sort of odd dimensions, but I am willing to give it a shot. Odd that the spin tack is to the windward hull- or should it be to the lee hull?
Would you believe my Mother-in-law bought it for me! Sweet, I am set.
BTW, that's my stunt double... there are some things I don't do!

E-bay, play mobile.
You can even upgrade to a highly advanced electric motor module! Comes with a metal keel that is removable.
I guess it is a pretty high end cat... you have to steer ALL THE TIME with your sails, as there is clearly a lack of rudders!.
Tybee 500 here I come!!

Perhaps it is a model of one of these you got, upgraded with spi?

Look, no rudders..

Third picture - name = "Trauma"...not exactly a happy name for a boat...

PTP. Can you tell me the dimensions? Length, width and height. I can't seem to find that information anywhere.

"Wooden Boat" magazine did a pretty extensive article on them a few years, back, can't remember which year. I think they're Portugese, maybe Brazilian.

So little time, so many boats

Portugese...one of our international sales representatives sails them and placed in their nationals. It's a wacky little boat. They steer by raking the rig fore and aft and using their body placement. Tacking and gybing are very interesting and you have to plan WAY ahead.

The "Patin" (There is a swordfish on the sail)is Spanish from the Catalan region ,at the 1992 olympics in Barcelona there were apparently 2000 of these in view on the beaches in the area.did you know the King Carlos of Spain was an olympic competitor in sailing. The boat works on the same premise as a windsurfer.Tacking and Jibing in the same manner by using the mast and your own weight. They started building them in early 1900's.You can get one for around 3500 $ according to the article Dec.1998 ........

We have a fleet of four here. Purchased at the local toy store, Miner's Toy Store.

Brand is "Playmobil" number 3183

This sig would be something witty, but the censors are against that.

I did a big article about the Patin a Vela several years ago in Catamaran Sailor.

Not too much to hijack on this thread -- it's about a child's bathtub toy.

Anyway, "Catamaran Sailor" magazine is now in its 12th continuous year of publication. It comes out eight times a year. In the bar across the top of our home page is a place to "Subscribe."

This web site was created as a spinoff of the magazine but it does not include the magazine itself, which comes out only in print form.

I thought it might be interesting to the article on the "Patin".

What about converting all of the back issues to PDF format and selling them in a digital form, either on a CD-ROM or a DVD. I am sure there are many articles and information there that are timeless and many that would bring back a lot of memories to a lot of people. I think that would make a good item to sell alongside of the sailing videos.
