It is an option when you buy a boat and it's made for transport reasons. Hobiecat Europe produces and sells a unit to connect the 2 piece mast. A 2 piece mast is not, in any way, less safe than a 1 piece mast. On the contrary, a 2 piece mast is safer because the mast chamber is divided into 2 waterproof chambers by the connecting unit which is filled and seald with foam. Sincerely yours, ...
