Posts: 32 | I have a student who wants to make a telescoping golf club. Having never golfed I showed him the Arriba tiller extension from my H-21. Does anybody know where I could get some lengths of carbon fiber tube similar to the tiller extension material? Does anybody have a number or link to Arriba? Does anybody have any suggestions at all? I have some budget for project materials but I can't find anything other than extremely small diameter carbon tubes. | | | Re: tiller extensions, carbon fiber, golf etc...

Posts: 778 Houston | Marstrom ( http://www.marstrom.com/) makes a small diameter (3/4") telescopic tiller. Part #610, 205 EURO plus shipping. I don't think it is strong enough to use as a golf club shaft. Carl | | | Re: tiller extensions, carbon fiber, golf etc...

Posts: 1,012 South Australia | At the diameter required for golf club shafts, carbon tube will be too "weak" and too flexible, whether made either in filament wound or moulded. The only thing that I could think of for that application that MAY work would be "graphite" fishing rod blanks, very very expensive though, but with light weight, strength, and the right rigidity comes cost. | | | Re: tiller extensions, carbon fiber, golf etc...

Posts: 31 Richmond, VA | I'd look at www.GolfSmith.com and look in their clubemaking section and search on "carbon shafts" They have them in both 0.335" and 0.370" tip diamaters and 0.575", 0.600" and 0.605" butt diamaters. I'm thinking with one of each cut in the right places you could make them "nest" together. I'm guessing that your student is attempting to make a club similar to the Divinick, http://www.divnickgolf.com/telescopic/index.html. I would think that by using existing carbon shafts from almost any application, golf or otherwise, the finished product would not have any desireable "feel" to it as the flex, kickpoint and general frequency of the shaft. Just my thoughts, Rich
