I currently own a Nacra 6.0. I am considering buying a Nacra 570 for several reasons:

- i would like to be able to sail alone. I believe this will be more easier on a 570 than on a 6.0 (my weight: 80kg)

(I have sailed my nacra 60 alone)

- I would like to sail with a gennaker. I've seen a N570 with one.

- I also want to have the possiblity to sail with friends, so a smaller boat (nacra5.0/500) is not an option.

any suggestions what other options to consider??

How does the nacra570 sail with gennaker???

Greetings Paul

Hi Paul

I sail the older Nacra 5.7 alone most of the time

The main problem is that if you capsize, you will not be able to right it reliably. (no daggerboard and a 30' mast). I weight about 100kg.

As far as sailing with a gennaker, my current Nacra 5.7 doesn't have the Jib rail on the front crossbeam but on the side of the trampoline instead and my lines are getting mixed-up. I think that the newer setup is going to be much better for the gennaker.

Compared to the Nacra 6.0, there is no daggerboard so the boat will be more forgiving and the sail area is a bit smaller (the Jib is much smaller) so it will be more manageable in medium winds.

The issue of righting the boat alone is very important to me and I am considering replacing my Nacra 5.7 with a Taipan 4.9.

I can say that I enjoy the speed of the Nacra 5.7 espacially on beam reaches and it has been a good boat to me but I think that I could find the same level of speed and fun with a smaller boat.

Note that I am also considering a Trimaran conversion of my existing boat like the Tremolino or the Trinado

Hi - I currently have an I20 and previously had a P19 + hooter, both of which I often sail alone. I have righted my P19 several times alone with the aid of the large Murray's waterbag. It works (I am 200 lbs).

One other thing to consider is GARY's soloright. He has kept working on this for several years, and regularly rights his Mystere 6.0 solo (I think he is about 160 lbs). Just last week he demo'd a new version and successfully righted a H21se solo (that's right, the monster boat...). Check out these photos at: http://home.attbi.com/~soloright/H21SEtestsB.htm such as this one:

Sail fast and have fun,

Solo? Last time I checked that meant alone... Unless I can't see straight there is two people on the boat and the pics are not that clear as to who or what is doing the righting.

Just an observation.
