Posts: 35 Mtl Canada | Hi Bob,
I have one, but I've taken it off, and wouldn't recommend it.
It's ok on the very warm slow day's, but it can be dangerous when it's windy.
I'd pitched poled once with the front tramp on, and had a pretty good surprise when my boat was sailing on it's side faster than we could swim (thank God we caught the Haylard). Then, how to release all the lines without getting on the windward side of the boat, which wanted to turtle.
Anyway, if you want pictures let me know, and I'll send you a couple of snapshots. In my case, I'm going to keep the tramp for light day's, but keep it off for all other regular sails.
Best Regards

Posts: 851 US Western Continental Shelf | Bob, At risk of being pegged as "positive" or "non positive," I can tell you that I read Steve's comments as follows: First of all, when he said that the risk of going to the windward side of the capsized boat, that he probably meant to say the lee side of the boat. Next, the reason that the tramp helped in pitching the boat was the amount of wind getting under-neath the tramps. If you'd like to effect a cargo tramp, and you don't want to go "wall to wall tramp" as is the standard forward tramp, ... ... you might want to consider one of my two designes. Both of them have survived some increadible stresses in the Santa Barbara Channel to include "Windy Lane." If you'd like to see them, try these links: My first Mystere 6.0 cargo trampSecond Try that is very close to the design that I now use today.GARY

Posts: 35 Mtl Canada | Hi Bob,
I'll take some pictures of the front tramp fitting, that basically is a turned plug that you insert into a hollow tube and screw a 1/2" bolt into bridal (instead of a pin).
Does it help "stiffen" the hulls. Yeah Mannn (a little Bob Marley myself ...), big time.
In fact, I've got no gelcoat stress cracks anywhere with the front bar in place. And, with the load being distributed I find myself alot more agressive hacking into the waves.
I'm going to ask Yves to cut into the tramp when I put my spin on (in case I sell the boat in the future), but I'll for sure end up with the tramp off, front beam on, and chute somehow in between this summer.
A big however --- I had once had a friend along, who was drop dead beautiful in her small bikini (old Bob M would have been pretty proud), please frame a picture of a beautiful girl lazing on the front tramp while the two of us were sipping wine sailing in light winds.
-- Yup the front tramp does have some merit after all --
I'll send you pictures of the install (in a about three weeks after I get the boat together), if you need.
Best Regards
Steve
PS There are some great pictures from Michel on the front tramp hardware in the Yahoo Mystere Groups (photo section). And you can see how my kids kinda hang out on light days with the tramp on (See my Steve Photo's). | | | Re: Front trampolines/hammock/shrimp net

Move forward, don't sit so far back, keep the leeward bow averaging half way in the water on moderate wind/wave days, and 2/3 out of the water in high speeds to slightly plane. Fall off the wind when your hull rises, especially if your mark is slightly downwind from your "prefered coarse beam reach", do a little wild thing. "Aparent wind speed baby". Take advantage of the funnel effect of increased wind speed near the coastal high rises, There's a sweet spot in there.
And above all else put more quick set up [censored] on everything and build a bomb shelter/ whine cellar under yer boat, you can have mine after June 1st, $50 installed with lock and cable. That way you can carry more beer in yer left hand.
I'm not that fast, but thanks anyway, Bub.
