Hi Bob,

I have one, but I've taken it off, and wouldn't recommend it.

It's ok on the very warm slow day's, but it can be
dangerous when it's windy.

I'd pitched poled once with the front tramp on,
and had a pretty good surprise when my boat was sailing
on it's side faster than we could swim (thank God we
caught the Haylard). Then, how to release all the lines
without getting on the windward side of the boat, which
wanted to turtle.

Anyway, if you want pictures let me know, and I'll send you
a couple of snapshots. In my case, I'm going to keep the
tramp for light day's, but keep it off for all other regular
sails.

Best Regards

Steve

Steve thanks alot for the heads up on the tramp. I thought with all that volume up in those bows it would not be so easy to trip up even if somone was up front. But I still would consider something there for cargo. Again thanks and have you anymore word out of Yves I do really appreciate that somone positive is in the camp from time to time....Bob G..

Bob,

At risk of being pegged as "positive" or "non positive," I can tell you that I read Steve's comments as follows:

First of all, when he said that the risk of going to the windward side of the capsized boat, that he probably meant to say the lee side of the boat.

Next, the reason that the tramp helped in pitching the boat was the amount of wind getting under-neath the tramps.

If you'd like to effect a cargo tramp, and you don't want to go "wall to wall tramp" as is the standard forward tramp, ...
... you might want to consider one of my two designes. Both of them have survived some increadible stresses in the Santa Barbara Channel to include "Windy Lane."

If you'd like to see them, try these links:

My first Mystere 6.0 cargo tramp

Second Try that is very close to the design that I now use today.

Hi Gary and Bob,

Woop's right no I mean left ...
Yes, I'd meant the leeword side of the tramp and boat.

I'll try to up load some pictures of my "wall
to wall front tramp", but as you'll see it was a good
idea at the spur of the moment (but I still would
not recommend it for big winds).

This said, I'll be at the Mystere Factory later in
April, and I'll give you a head's up on how it
goes.

Hey, at day's end I'm happy to sail and I hope
that I'm not a dying Dinosaur. So far my four kids
are right there in the sport ... but sadly the lake is
an empty place ..... "exhale" !

Best Regards Guy's

Firstly thanks for the response Steve and Gary. Now I am really confused !Gary I like Triangle cut tramp, could that hold somone lets say in the 200lbs range if need be. Steven you answered my next question with that picture of the trampoline material which is openweave to let water and air pass through yet this is still a problem. Both boats are fantastic looking, how can you not like these boats !So Steve for that forward tramp beam does that simply connect to the bridal tang in some manner .Does that beam up front improve the overall stiffness of the boat being that it looks like an XL. Somone picked up R.Murph's boat 6.0 XL that also is a well kept machine."SAy youu can,t liv in dat negatif way-You know what I mean-Make way for the positve Day" Robert Nestor Marley.....

there was once a frenchy sailor with one o them hammock between the bows and he caught a bunch o shrimp and flyin fish, no trophies though, and it was a good place to relax on the beech where his boat was most of the time anyway.

Hi Bob,

I'll take some pictures of the front tramp fitting, that
basically is a turned plug that you insert into a hollow
tube and screw a 1/2" bolt into bridal (instead of a pin).

Does it help "stiffen" the hulls. Yeah Mannn (a little Bob
Marley myself ...), big time.

In fact, I've got no gelcoat stress cracks anywhere with
the front bar in place. And, with the load being distributed
I find myself alot more agressive hacking into the waves.

I'm going to ask Yves to cut into the tramp when I put my
spin on (in case I sell the boat in the future), but
I'll for sure end up with the tramp off, front beam on,
and chute somehow in between this summer.

A big however --- I had once had a friend along, who
was drop dead beautiful in her small bikini (old Bob M
would have been pretty proud), please frame a picture
of a beautiful girl lazing on the front tramp while the
two of us were sipping wine sailing in light winds.

-- Yup the front tramp does have some merit after all --

I'll send you pictures of the install (in a about three
weeks after I get the boat together), if you need.

Best Regards

Steve

PS There are some great pictures from Michel on the front
tramp hardware in the Yahoo Mystere Groups (photo section).
And you can see how my kids kinda hang out on light days
with the tramp on (See my Steve Photo's).

Back, Baaack to your cave you pygmy! I was catching you anyway ,I just felt like sailing way off shore. I mean really you can't possibly think it's the boat can you Chip .That's a lot of mouth wash. That's it,the new name for your boat"Mouth Wash"

Steve. O' La La Je' compris about the tramp . I would like to see the connection when you get a chance . I was thinking about two small yacht style spi pole end caps. The kind that you pull the cord or wire and it opens the pin so you can jibe. Somehow a connection to be fashioned on each bridal tang making it very portable. Anyway thank for the answers. I also have this very sinister vertical crack on the outside in front of the beam about 18" which is about 6" long.I filled it but when I sail there must be a load in that area as it returns.Half of the crack is above and below the forward hulls subdeck so I guess you must put a hole ine this to do a repair.I have no water coming in but I think about that damn thing and I know it's thinking about me,just waiting for the perfect time to let go. The weather was absolutely perfect this weekend not real breezy but great warmup weather for those of us who had'nt been out in a while. thanks Bob G.Delray Beach Fl.

What's your IcQ # anyway private?

Move forward, don't sit so far back, keep the leeward bow averaging half way in the water on moderate wind/wave days, and 2/3 out of the water in high speeds to slightly plane. Fall off the wind when your hull rises, especially if your mark is slightly downwind from your "prefered coarse beam reach", do a little wild thing. "Aparent wind speed baby". Take advantage of the funnel effect of increased wind speed near the coastal high rises, There's a sweet spot in there.

And above all else put more quick set up [censored] on everything and build a bomb shelter/ whine cellar under yer boat, you can have mine after June 1st, $50 installed with lock and cable. That way you can carry more beer in yer left hand.

I'm not that fast, but thanks anyway, Bub.

Hi Guy's,

Yes on the wind funnel thing. I have to admit
that it was one of my more difficult sail's.

Yeah, and I am smiling .... oh well girl's and cat's,
one of the best mixes known to man.

Thanks for the great thread, I'll send some pictures,
who know maybe even one or two of the boat.

Cheer's - We're finally over 50' over here, so sailing
season will be finally in gear soon.

Best Regards

Steve
