I am modifying my P19 and installing a TheMightyHobie18 roller furling unit. At the same time I'll replace forestay (upper & lower) and bridle wires. Now due to the roller furler the bridle wire will need to be shortened and same with either the forestay or the upper. As I would like to keep the option to use the new rigging without the furler unit would it be better to keep original length on bridle and forestay and just shorten the uppper?. This will result in a little more mast rake with the furling unit which perhaps can be compensated with a shorter upper. Any help will be appreciated.

You'd be better off posting in the general discussion area. You'll get a better response there.

Make one set of bridles to fit the furler and have the tack at the standard P19 height. I think I would make a second set of bridle wires so the jib tack is at the same height when not using the furler. Leave the forestay and pigtail alone.

If the lower forestay has a fork on the bottom, you can attach to the furler adjuster plate or a 7 hole adjuster when not using the drum.
