How would be the best way to remove old discolored striping on the hull sides? I just took the boat totally apart and want to repair the bottoms and re-finish the hulls. Capt. Daves 16 looks killer. Any advise would be great.

I used a heat gun and single edge razor blade to take mine off. Be careful not to overheat the gelcoat, or to cut into it with the blade. The color of the gelcoat under the strips will be surprisingly original. On my Prindle 18, you could even see that the area under the stripes was raised up, which I assume is a result of the rest of the boat deteriorating away from UV exposure.
