Cheap Custom fit boat cover.[/color]
If you are penurious as I am you can easily make your own. These will last at least a year and do not cost more than about $40 and time. If you know how to use a sewing machine and have access to one it helps.
I buy a tarp (plastic) or a canvas dropcloth from Home Depot that is a little longer than my boat. 20 feet in my case and about twice as wide 14 to 16 feet should do for an 8½ foot boat. I get the thicker kind that is UV enhanced. You may need an extra small tarp for the extra panels. I think the big tarp cost me $20 and the smaller one was about $8. Then there is webbing and upholstery thread.
In the illustration I have shown where to cut the material and why it is cut there. For the cuts that are shrouds, trapezes, and bridle wires I add flaps that close the gap after the cover is on. These only need to be sewn on one side, then install a way to close them. You can use bungee, webbing or line. I think Velcro gets too expensive for this.
Where the material will hang down and the cut exposes the boat I add a square of material that is sewn on two sides to make a drop down. This is at the front and rear crossbeam. The front one will have to have a slit to it can go around the mast where I add another tie.
For the bow I fold the material on the dotted line then sew it together for a snug fit there.
I like to add a wide piece of webbing folded in half and sewn on at any part or edge that I deem a stress point or area. Those areas are around the mast and around all the inside edges of the flap areas.
I finish it by making sure that there is no cut that is exposed by hemming anything that is.
