Bad stuff happening at the ISAF Games. I recieved this from the TampaBay Catsailors and thought it noteworthy to share with the community.
----------------------------------------------------------
Have some really bad news....after practicing and going thru the expense
of getting there and all and all spending 2 days in protest over the
screw up../Kelly and Olli's have been denied entry to the games. It
seems as thought US Sailing really dropped the ball. NO GIRLS ALLOWED.
I am sure this is not the end of this story. Supposedly US Sailing had
got clearance in November for an exemption for Kelly since they had
changed the rules after the qualifier....bottom line is it is a
bureaucratic mess.

They are beside them selves as you can imagine. They are coming home on
Monday.
------------------------------------------------------------
And to think I belong to US Sailing! Very big shame on them. The officers should all resign. I feel very sorry for Ollie and Kelly Jason. I'm sure there will be quite an outrage over this!

Are you sure US Sailing is to blame? Sounds like they went through the right steps to get the expemption for mixed crew then got rejected at the event. Could be US Sailing or could be ISAF...another thread with more conjecture is on this site with some facts from NAF18 Chairperson.

What really amazed me is that either:

-1- ISAF won't allow the all female crew compete (no balls), why should they disallow it or even limit it to only men. As if they think that that would be unfiar to the women ?

or

-2- some crew is protesting an all female crew out of the competition it is not like an all female crew has any unfair advantage over all male crews.

Applying the rules because the rule is there not because the reason for having the rule is in anyway satisfied. Bureacracy.

I think this to be one big disgrace.

NO competitor protested!!! It was the ISAF brass. Check out the other thread.
