I got caught in small but powerful storm cell sailing downwing and pitchpolled my Taipan 4.9. I broke 4 battens and am looking for advice for replacement.

I just recently got the boat used. The boat is a 2002 with the original Goodall sails.

The only labeled batten is the top diagonal one and it says "Fiberfoam, epoxy sailbattens, X-hard, by Scott Anderson, Made in Austria"

The top diagonal batten did not break. It is 14mm (15mm?) thin but not tapered.
2nd from top 32" tapered 14mm (15mm?)
3rd from top 49.5" tapered 18mm
4th from top 64" tapered 18mm
5th from top 75" tapered 18mm

The fiberfoam website (http://www.fiberfoam.net/) lists these battens in medium, hard, and xhard. Although the top diagonal is listed as xhard, I would not think the others need be the same as they are tapered and serve a different purpose in sail shaping.

Murrays (http://murrays.com/) lists "Performance Catbattens" (from Austria) which may be the same fiberfoam battens. Of course they are also available via the catsailor.com on-line store.

I may also try to contact AHPC and/or Goodall to see what I can find out.

So my questions:
What battens should I get?
Are the Fiberfoam/Performance Catbattens the way to go for this boat/sail?
Are the stock battens medium, hard, or xhard stiffness?
If I can find out the stiffness of the orignal set, do I need to replace the entire set or just the broken ones?
Assuming I can only afford one set, should I get medium, hard, or xhard? (generally the regatta winds are lighter air around me)
