Thanks for your views relating to Discards, I'm still not convinced of their merits. Todays Cat's are far more reliable than the Dinghies which were home built in the 60's and 70's. As for racing conservatively this should only add another dimension to a persons race/series strategy thus making their achievements all the more satifying. Anyway, this can be discussed futher at a later date.
Due to the feed back I will be adopting John's suggestion of one discard after race 6 and another after race 10.
Now for my next and final proposal!!! Make race twelve a MEDAL RACE which means it's not discardable and the points are doubled across the board. i.e 2pts for a 1st, 4pts for a 2nd and so on. This format is to be used at the 2008 Olympic Games and I'm sure it could make our event even more exicting. No doubt there will be some negative feedback but I hope that the majority of F16 sailors would like to keep the class at the forefront of the modern day racing scene.

I have no problems with a medal race.

Yes I like this idea, keeps the competition much more alive to the very end.

Here's the extract from the WindGuru website for the Swansea Bay area for the period to 5th June. Should be a good weekend!!

EDIT: OK, the site won't accept a PDF file so now I'll try a screenshot. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
