The CRAC Chesapeake-100 is coming up fast! This year's edition of the Chesapeake classic is a little different in that we will start at Galesville and go to Cambridge on Saturday and back on Sunday. This offers the ability to set a long or short course depending on weather conditions, hopefully reducing the chance of extreme late night finishing if the winds are light.

This is a great race in that you get distance racing without the big ground crew commitment. It's a also a great way to see the Bay! Come on out!

Go to http://www.sailregattas.com/crac/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=96 to find the race info. (for some reason I'm having problems putting nice links in my message).

History Time

How many veterans of the Worrell 100 and Tybee 500 can you spot in this year's C100?

what other Chesapeake Sailors SHOULD be in this race?

Friday afternoon practice /speed testing anyone?

Mark, Will you be delivering on Friday? Or is it already there and you are going to race tonight as well?

One more N20 and we make a class?

I am forcasting weather trends as we speak...

Plan A was to move it today... but a forcast of 5 knots nixed that one.

My new Landy snuffer is due from Germany any day now as well

Thursday evening or for sure Friday late morning to early afternoon looks like a plan.

Who's left on the beach with their mast up and literally two minutes from the Start and Finish?

Sievert Looking for crew
Lancaster Looking at who the hell knows
Euler Looking at the wind
Galloway Looking for who knows what
?

Going Racing
Allen
Daunheimer/Chapman
Mcloughlin/Noll
Kirby/Herbeck

Don't know about these N20's.
Sitting at Podickery and the Magothy
Gonzales
Miller

Tornado's
Scace... on vacation
Cook ???

Plus one Supercat 22
Holmes ???

Glen Ross has won this race before and Harry's P19MX has that big jib for any reaching conditions and the Tornado chute for the down wind legs. Could be trouble.

Secrete weapon installed and functional! Now it only up to the crew to recognize when to deploy it!

Is this secret weapon like the BEAR you had us give Ed Mills?

That actually worked in that he lost the ice breaker by 4 seconds to Chris Bolton!

Don't go messin with Big John... (and indeed he is bigger then you remember).

If I have Felipe... take it easy... we are literally teaching him the ropes... err... lines...

Cool, better buy a ground screw for overnight in Cambridge.

As for the forecast I'm picking up my "light-air god" of a crew tomorrow at BWI. If the forecast is correct, I'm taking out four big steaks for tomorrow nights dinner. Will pile on the carbs as well via Barley sandwiches, perhaps Victory Brand is in order. Is beer a complex carb? Hmmm....

that forecast reminds me of what I saw on one of the boats down at tybee.

The downhaul "gauge" went 1....2....3....4...OH SH*T

That being said, 20 knots is manageable. Its the gusts you're gonna have to watch out for.

Forecast seems a little all over the place as of now. NOAA now calling for small craft advisories all day Saturday, with the wind from the North. However, other forecasts last night were showing 9-12. And the CBOF animation, which only goes up to 8am tomorrow at this point, shows 10-15 from the SW. What's right? My recent experience is that the CBOF model will win out - a similar thing was showing for the start of the Volvo Ocean Race, with NOAA calling for small craft advisories all day, and the CBOF showing it dropping to about 10, which is exactly what happened. I suspect a lot of us will be surfing weather sites today...

Your weapon ain't so secret! How much time will you spot me this weekend to keep me from revealing it?
