Two sites that any sailor who modifies their boat from stock or who does NOT sail to class rules should know:

http://ussailing.org/portsmouth/tables06/tables06mh.htm

http://ussailing.org/portsmouth/tables06/modifications06.htm

ALL of you who modify your boat from stock HAVE THE BURDEN OF PROOF to show exactly what your mods are, eg CERTIFICATES FROM YOUR SAILMAKERS, and to DAMN WELL KNOW what your Portsmouth numbers are, not just the DP-N, but all the wind correction factors.

It's not rocket surgery to calculate them, and y'all can write them down somewhere and keep the numbers with you. If you don't take this on yourselves, then you better just accept what the RC gives you and shut the f--k up. Unless it's a Nationals, this is all beercan racing anyway.

If y'all want to engage in this sport, it's up to YOU to support it. Race Committees are NOT paid and we put up with a LOT of crap, not just the day of the race but well before it. Just think: we get drinks, food, shirts, trophies, chase boats, raffle prizes, all this stuff arranged in advance. Most race organizers do their level best to make damn sure that y'all have a good time.

PLEASE, PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE AND AT LEAST KNOW TWO THINGS:
YOUR PORTSMOUTH NUMBER, ESP IF NOT STOCK BOAT
AND YOUR SAIL NUMBER.

Is this SO much to ask?? I'd rather have good info at registration than any other thanks y'all could offer. Honestly.

Well, being on a stock Hobie 18, all I can say is "THANKS!!" for a great race. Was really sad to see nothing but sand this year so you all really did a great job! Glad to support ya!
Hope to be back soon (with PN's and sail numbers written down!)-

Thanks!
Kirt

Your point is well made.

Before we used online registration... I would announce at the skippers meeting that a skippers error in reporting their sail number or ratings would result in a dsq for the first race.

People paid a lot more attention to what they were doing and we saved at least an hour tracking down the fantasy or missing sail numbers!

Did that get me into the *NOODLE*can with the other whiners??

Truly a joke. I had my best start in that second race.
