Thanks to the recommendation to one of the Catsailor Forum members, I got our Nacra 5.8na rebuilt in a 1:24 model. Love the results--the model is extremely well-detailed. (I hope that attaching a picture works..)

Whaddaya all think?

This is a really good looking model. Is it strictly a display model, or can you put in the water and play with it?

could this be the ultimate "rubber duck" for in the bath tub? If you could train a couple of mice to trapeze that would be cool <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Looking good

Amazing! You should consider to make a radiocontrolled, compared to what you've done, the servo part is nothing (and you can find everything on ebay). (If you are interested, a trimaran might be a better choice, they are easier to tack and harder to capsize).

It's not for sailing and it's in a display case.

Very nicely done!

Questions:
What did you use for materials?
Did you take the lines off your hull, or did you have offsets or plans?

The model was built totally from scratch-the hulls are made of wood, the mast and crossbars from aluminum, the sails & trapeze from fabric. All the tiny blocks, trapez handles etc. were made from hand.

Measurements were taken from a real Nacra 5.8na.

That is spectacular..... I would love to have that on my desk during those bleak winter months in New England. But I'm sure I wouldn't like the cost of having one made!!!

Thanks for showing us.
