A sailing buddy of mine (I think his name is Milt) just bought a new H 17 (Just gotta love that "new boat" thing) and found that when hoisting his sail it jammed and would not go up the last 9 inches. He checked the luff track and found it OK but narrower at the top 9"'s than below it. He solved the problem by "melt-shaving" the top half inch of the luff-rope to a taper using a red-hot (not quite red) screwdriver. That part of the line had thickened ever-so-slightly when cut in the factory. The sail now goes right up to the top and hooks up 'no sweat-no tipping' .

That sounds like a great trick to remember.

Thanks,
